Manager Attachés (m/f/d)

In the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games Full-time / 40 hours per week / limited with a reason in kind until late summer 2025.

The Delegation Services functional area (FA) is the primary liaison for all delegations that will attend the Games. The FISU Relations FA is the primary liaison with FISU and the FISU Family. The Attaché Manager is responsible for managing attaché’s that will support these client groups.

Attaché’s are appointed to each delegation attending the Games and to relevant FISU Family members. Attaché’s support these client groups by providing local knowledge, Games information and language/translation support. An attaché is an individual that provides a link between their delegation/FISU Family member and the OC.

The Attaché Manager will work with staff from the areas of Delegation Services and FISU Relations however will report directly to Team Lead International Services. The position is full time based in the OC office in Düsseldorf.

We would entrust you in particular with the fulfilment of these tasks: 

  • Development and management of the attaché plan for delegations and FISU Family members attending the Games, ensuring that relevant minimum requirements are met

  • In conjunction with the Language Services Manager, liaising with relevant course providers in linguistics and languages with view to recruit attaché’s from their student base

  • Developing guidelines, policies and procedures as they relate to attaché’s

  • In conjunction with the volunteer FA team, coordinating the recruitment and onboarding process for all attaché’s, including conducting interviews, inducting and training of attaché’s

  • Preparation of relevant induction, training and support materials for attaché’s

  • Managing the process of appointing attaché’s to delegations and FISU Family members

  • Preparing an attaché support team that will work behind the scenes to assist attaché’s with relevant information and support

  • Preparation of attaché rosters and manage these rosters for the Games delivery period

  • Managing movement of attaché’s during the Games delivery period as well as attaché welfare and support services

  • Managing attaché’s for other key pre Games events including the Head of Delegation Spring meeting, pre Games delegation visits and other relevant meetings

  • Working in collaboration with other functional areas (especially the Volunteer FA) to deliver on tasks as they relate to attaché’s involved at the Games

  • Other tasks as deemed relevant to the level of the position

You bring the following skills & knowledge with you: 

  • An academic degree the area of sport/event management, volunteer management or other related field

  • Demonstrated experience in managing volunteers and/or attaché’s, international relations or human resources

  • Have an understanding of volunteering in a multi sport event environment

  • Understanding of how functional areas interact in a multi sport event environment to achieve common goals

  • Cultural and global awareness

  • Motivation to ensure the event experience is amazing for delegations and FISU Family members

  • High level of flexibility and be a self starter

  • Striving to find a solution to challenges

  • Excellent communication and mediation skills

  • Fluent in German and English

Other information

  • This role has one direct report and will manage numerous volunteer teams and/or contractors within the area of attaché’s during the Games delivery period
