Macron named official supplier

The Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games are delighted to announce the signing of a landmark deal with internationally renowned clothing supplier Macron, who will now set to work on designing and producing a collection unique to the world's largest multi-sport event in 2025.

The Italian sporting goods manufacturer will produce more than 150,000 high quality garments to be worn by the volunteers, employees and officials at the FISU Games, ensuring a harmonious overall image at the eagerly awaited international sporting festival. The exciting partnership was finalised during a visit of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 team to the Macron headquarters in Bologna.

"We are proud to be a partner of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games,” Adriano Zappala, Area Manager at Macron, said. “With our high quality and sustainable outfits, we want to help ensure that all volunteers, staff and officials are comfortable and fashionably dressed. We are looking forward to an exciting partnership as part of the biggest sporting event of 2025, and to bringing the enthusiasm and team spirit of this international event to the region.”

Frederik Matthies, Team Lead Marketing for the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, said the supplier’s international pedigree and stylish yet practical design ethos were decisive factors in striking the deal.

"We are proud to have Macron on our side, a high-profile international company that already supplies UEFA (the European football association) and numerous major clubs and associations in various sports worldwide,” Matthies said. “Macron is developing a unique design for us that looks cool, is sustainable and is comfortable to wear. Together with Macron, we want to bring colour to the games.”

Commitment to Sustainability

The collaboration underlines the shared commitment of both partners to socially sustainable and ecological solutions. Macron uses environmentally friendly materials and innovative manufacturing methods in its production; the use of recycled fabrics and sustainable production processes ensures the clothing is not only functional and comfortable, but also makes a positive contribution to the environment.

The partnership is also in line with the ambitious sustainability concept of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, which was recently presented in detail in the ‘Sustainability & Legacy’ pre-Games paper.

Mirjam Scheffler, Senior Manager Volunteers, was a guest of Macron in Bologna.

Due for launch next spring, the uniforms will serve as clothing for the respective volunteer areas, staff and officials during the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, which will light up the region from 16 to 27 July 2025.
