Theses must have been completed and formally evaluated between 1 October 2024 and the submissions deadline of 15 May 2025. Submission Requirements
Currently enrolled students at a German university or students who have completed their studies at a German university after 1 October 2024 are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted in electronic form as a PDF (max. 10MB).

Assessment criteria
Exclusion criteria: completeness of the documents
Level clearly above that of comparable theses. Excellent academic work is a prerequisite.
Graded as 'very good' (1.0 or 1.3) according to the German grading system
Thematic reference: major sporting events, multi-sport events, FISU World University Games (formerly known as 'Universiade'), university sports, Rhine-Ruhr2025, FISU, or adh
Individual duration of study and special life situation can be taken into account in the case of equally good work
Creativity (research question, methodology, perspective)
Added value for the object of research (further development of the field)
Connecting perspectives (e.g. for research or practice)
CHECK LIST
The following documents must be enclosed with the application:
A digital copy of the thesis in German or English
Summary of the thesis including a description of the reference to the topics and perspectives identified (max. 350 words)
Short Curriculum Vitae (max. one page)
Copy of the degree certificate with a grade of the thesis*
Signed Declaration of Consent under Data Protection Law (Data Protection Information)

*If the degree certificate has not yet been issued, a written confirmation from the examination office regarding the grade and outcome of the procedure can be submitted instead.
