Project Manager Logistics (m/f/d)

In the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games Full-time / 40 hours per week / limited with a reason in kind until late summer 2025.

The position is located within the OC's Operations division. The Operations Division provides the necessary infrastructure for the implementation of the FISU World University Games. The Functional Area (FA) Logistics is responsible for the logistical planning and implementation at all competition & non-competition venues, including but not limited to shipping and receiving, inventory management and all furniture, fixtures and equipment required before, during and after the Games.

We would entrust you in particular with the fulfilment of these tasks: 

  • Support and lead the development and implementation of event logistics milestones where applicable

  • Planning and implementation of venue logistics infrastructure, including detailed information on set-up, replenishment, warehousing and recovery procedures at venues

  • Supporting procurement activities for the logistics FA and, in collaboration with the responsible managers, participating in the supplier selection processes as well as recording and evaluating requests for information and quotations and managing supplier contracts

  • Together with the FA Venue Management, develop the integrated delivery schedules and guidelines for delivery for each venue, incl. on-site deliveries of rented heavy machinery

  • Assist in creating the procedures and processes for tracking and controlling assets at each venue's logistics center and central warehouse

  • Active participation in the planning and implementation of the logistics tool (WMS, finalization of delivery schedules)

  • Managing external logistics service providers and leading the logistics team at assigned venues and warehouse locations in preparation for, during and after the Games

You bring the following skills & knowledge with you: 

  • Completed studies and/or certifications in the fields of event management, sports management, logistics/supply chain management, or comparable qualification

  • Experience in the organizational planning and implementation of events of a similar scale, ideally in the field of logistics for multi-sport events

  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings

  • Ability to work effectively in groups of people from other disciplines and at different levels of the matrix organization with a diverse workforce, including volunteers and temporary/contract workers

  • Very good MS Office skills, experience with databases and ERP system advantageous

  • Ability to quickly process information from spreadsheets and other tools

  • High level of organizational skills and experience in handling multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Very good communication skills in German and English

  • Driving license class B, valid in Germany

  • Forklift driver's license is an advantage
