These terms of use (hereinafter ‘Terms of Use’) apply to all press image material from the image database (hereinafter ‘Images’) of Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games gGmbH, Nördlicher Zubringer 9-11, D-40470 Düsseldorf (hereinafter ‘RR2025’), which can be accessed at: https://multimedia.rhineruhr2025.com/extranet

2.1 The images can be downloaded free of charge and may be used for the following purposes as part of editorial reporting on the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games:

Use of the images for commercial purposes, especially for advertising, is prohibited without the prior written consent of RR2025, and may be subject to a charge.

2.2 Electronic storage of the images for longer-term self-archiving, forwarding or transfer and/or sub-licensing of the images to third parties is not permitted.

2.3 The Brand Guidelines of RR2025 (incl. use of the logo, fonts etc.), available via this link, must be observed for any use of the images.

2.4 Technical processing required for publication and distribution (e.g. reproduction of colour images in black and white, colour and tonal value corrections, changes to the size and aspect ratio of images, etc.) is permitted. Any further editing of images, in particular by copying, re-photographing, changing colours, cutting out or using montage techniques, is generally not permitted. Exceptions require the prior written consent of RR2025.

2.5 Any reproduction of an image that is made in a context that distorts the meaning, or that could lead to the degradation of persons depicted, is prohibited. In particular, the images may not be used in a way that is contrary to public decency or applicable law. In particular, it is not permitted to use the images in an offensive, racist, violent, discriminatory, abusive, pornographic, defamatory or otherwise objectionable or criminal manner.

3.1 RR2025 and the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) have acquired all rights of use from the authors of the digital images, unless otherwise stated.

3.2 If these terms of use are recognised, the user may use the images within the scope of a simple right of use. The right of use is limited to the specific purpose of use in accordance with the provisions of section 2.1, unless RR2025 expressly consents to any other use in written form in advance.

3.3 The user is responsible for safeguarding the rights of persons, works, objects or signs depicted (e.g. personal rights, copyrights, trademark rights and/or other property rights). The user is responsible for obtaining the necessary consent from third parties in individual cases. If such rights are disregarded, the user alone is responsible with regard to any third-party claims.

3.4 The user is responsible for any editing of the images (including text).

4.1 When publishing the images, the user is obliged to cite the source in the following form:

In the case of images from the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU), the following source must also be stated:

The source must be clearly attributable to the respective image. The obligation to cite the source also applies if the image has been edited.

In the case of edits within the meaning of Section 2.4, the source reference must be added in the following form:

5.1 The user is obliged to indemnify RR2025 against all claims made against RR2025 due to a breach of these terms of use. The indemnification obligation also includes the reimbursement of reasonable legal prosecution and legal defence costs incurred.

5.2 Claims for damages by the user arising from the use of the images are excluded. Excluded from this are claims for damages due to injury to life, body, and health, as well as claims for damages arising from the breach of essential contractual obligations. Also excluded from the exclusion of liability is liability for damages resulting from an intentional or grossly negligent breach of duty by RR2025 or the legal representatives or vicarious agents of RR2025. The exclusion of liability in accordance with this Section 5.2 also applies in favour of FISU if the user asserts claims against it.

6.1 Each time images are published, the user is obliged to send RR2025 a complete specimen copy free of charge by email to media@rhineruhr2025.com.

6.2 Contact requests must be sent by email to media@rhineruhr2025.com.

6.3 RR2025 reserves the right to make reasonable changes to these Terms of Use, e.g. for legal, regulatory or security reasons.

6.4 The place of jurisdiction for all legal disputes concerning these Terms of Use is, as far as permissible, Düsseldorf.

6.5 German law shall apply to the exclusion of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).

6.6 Should one or more provisions of these Terms of Use be or become invalid, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.
