Can you imagine carrying the torch of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games to the Ruhr region? Join in or nominate other inspiring people. Whether in sport, voluntary work or in the community: anyone who lives passion, team spirit and commitment deserves to carry the flame into the Ruhr region and represent the values that unite us. Carrying the flame of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games is much more than a tradition - it is an honour. We are looking for people who want to make the world a better place with their commitment and be part of a unique moment. 

A flame that connects 

The torch will be travelling through Germany under the motto ‘Everybody is all-in!' It will make stops in the capital city of Berlin and other famous locations on its way to the Rhine-Ruhr region and its final destination at the FISU Games. The torch will also be carried by extraordinary personalities. Students, children and visitors from universities and colleges throughout Germany as well as committed individuals with social, sporting and academic involvement will also be part of this unforgettable experience.

The torch of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games unites tradition and change in perfect harmony. It symbolises the history and development of the Rhine-Ruhr region and embodies the unique connection between past and future. As a powerful symbol, the torch carries the cultural heritage of the region and at the same time sheds light on its innovative ambitions. Its design integrates characteristic elements of the region and tells the story of its journey - from its roots in mining, industry and engineering to a post-industrial, vibrant cultural landscape. The torch is more than just an object - it is a shining symbol of the transformation and identity of the Rhine-Ruhr region. 

How do you become a torchbearer? 

Do you know someone who embodies the spirit of these FISU Games? Then nominate him or her - or pick up the torch yourself! Together we will light the flame. Apply or nominate inspiring people who carry the fire within them by 31 March 2025.
