The Chengdu 2021 FISU Games had to be postponed twice due to the Corona pandemic and will only take place in 2023 under the unchanged brand name "Chengdu 2021". "Chengdu Makes Dreams Come True" is the official slogan of this unique sports event, which is dedicated to health, technology and culture, in addition to the competitions between the world's best student athletes.

Chengdu – a dynamic centre for business, culture, internationality and sports
Chengdu is the capital of the Chinese province of Sichuan and has a population of around 21 million. It is located in the subtropical climate zone and enjoys a pleasant climate with different seasons. As one of the ancient Chinese capitals, Chengdu looks back on 4,500 years of culture. Almost all the great Chinese poets in history visited Chengdu or spent part of their lives there.
Chengdu has 65 universities with about 1.1 million enrolled students, including Sichuan University, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Southwest Jiaotong University and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, which bring about 260,000 graduates to enterprises every year in a variety of fields such as electronic information, business management and others.

Chengdu is famous for its panda breeding centre, and the surrounding forests are the only panda habitat in the world. The Giant Panda National Park and its nature reserve, as well as other natural parks such as forest parks, geological parks, scenic spots and wetlands, are the pride of the city.

An animated giant panda named "Rongbao" is the mascot of the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games. The source of inspiration was the mask of the Sichuan Opera. Besides the torch with the 31" motif in Rongbao's hand, his ears, eyes and tail are also decorated with a flame pattern.

The main part of the logo was developed based on the initial English letter of the Universiade – "U" – and combined with the golden sunbird, which is one of the symbolic elements of Chengdu's culture.

Strong German team on the start line
The Executive Board of the German University Sports Federation (adh) has nominated the 240-strong German delegation for the FISU World University Games in Chengdu. The 160 German athletes will compete for medals in 14 of the 18 sports. The German national student delegation will be represented in badminton, archery, fencing, gymnastics, judo, rowing, shooting, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, water polo, diving and athletics.
