Great Start for the Volunteer Program

The launch of the volunteer program for the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games has sparked significant interest. Registration commenced last Thursday, 29 February, with a target of recruiting 12,000 volunteers for next summer's sports festival.

Under the motto 'NO GAMES WITHOUT U!', the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 team made its first appearance on the start day in the five host cities of Bochum, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen, and Mülheim an der Ruhr, to draw attention to the diverse and varied opportunities offered through volunteering at the FISU World University Games.

All important information about the volunteer program, registration, and functional areas can be found at www.rhineruhr2025.com/volunteer

Here's how the day unfolded in the five cities

At the main train stations in Duisburg, Düsseldorf, and Essen, as well as at the YONEX Open in Mülheim an der Ruhr and at the Unifit in Bochum, numerous flyers were distributed, on-site registrations were made, and questions from passers-by and visitors were answered. Because almost anyone can help out, as long as they are 18 years old by 1 June 2025, are fluent in German or English, and are available for at least four event days.

In Mülheim an der Ruhr, where the badminton competitions will take place at the Westenergie Sporthalle during the FISU World University Games 2025, many visitors to the YONEX Open showed interest in the volunteer program and were pleased that another top-class badminton event will be held in the city.

YONEX Open.

At the Unifit in Bochum, rower Jakob Schneider was on hand to answer questions from visitors. Schneider won the silver medal at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, but he also has experience with the FISU World University Games: in 2015, as a student at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, he won gold in Gwangju (South Korea). Jakob shared his invaluable insights with the attendees.

A Special Guest at the Volleyball Cup Final

The launch of the volunteer program last Thursday was a starting point for the recruitment of volunteers. On Sunday, a team from Rhine-Ruhr 2025 was present at the Volleyball Cup Final, which was orhanized by the German Volleyball Federation in the SAP Arena in Mannheim to engage more potential volunteers. Stay tuned for visits to other sporting events – because NO GAMES WITHOUT U!
