Legacy & Sustainability Workshop

Sustainability is a central component of the FISU World University Games 2025. Currently, the process of developing a detailed sustainability concept for the FISU Games is in full swing. In order to collect a wide range of ideas and suggestions, the Organizing Committee of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games invites students and representatives of university sports to the Legacy & Sustainability Workshop.

Shaping the sustainability concept together

The purpose of this workshop is to gather expectations for the sustainability concept, exchange ideas, collaborate on its development, and raise awareness about sustainability aspects in the context of major sporting events. The workshop format was developed in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Legacy & Sustainability Advisor of the Organizing Committee). A trial workshop with students from the University of Mainz already took place in the summer semester.

To gather a broader range of opinions, there will be offered two digital workshop sessions organized by Rhine-Ruhr 2025. These sessions are scheduled as follows:

  • Thursday, September 21st, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM

  • Thursday, October 26th, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM

Students and representatives of university sports can register through this registration form (in German).

The workshop offers the students an opportunity to get involved in the planning of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games at this early stage and to show their academic commitment to the topic of legacy and sustainability. Further proposals from universities, such as research ideas, joint seminars, or thesis projects are very welcomed.
