Sportpark Lohrheide receives official venue plaque
On 2 July, Sportpark Lohrheide received the official venue plaque of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games and was thus recognised as an official venue. Niklas Börger, CEO of Rhine-Ruhr 2025, presented the venue plaque to Bochum city councillor Dietmar Dieckmann. Ute Feinweber, Department of Sport and Exercise of the City of Bochum, and David Aminian, also Department of Sport and Exercise of the City of Bochum, were also present.
The plaque recognises the close cooperation and commitment of the sports facilities involved in the run-up to the world's largest student multi-sport event, which is taking place in the Rhine-Ruhr region this summer. The Lohrheide Sports Park will play a central role: Numerous athletics competitions will be held here.
The award draws attention to the Lohrheide Sports Park - a facility steeped in tradition that is being further developed into a modern, future-orientated competition venue in the Ruhr region thanks to the current refurbishment.
