Take the Bus or Train: VRR joins Rhine-Ruhr 2025 as Official Mobility Partner
Whether you're heading to 3x3 basketball in Bochum, water polo in Duisburg, badminton in Mülheim an der Ruhr, or artistic gymnastics in Essen – getting to the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games will be simple and stress-free thanks to public transport. That’s because the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) is now an official supporter of the event.
The partnership makes travel to the competitions not only easier but also more sustainable. All event tickets include free access to public transportation within the VRR network on the day of the event – both to and from the venues. So whether you're a fan, volunteer, or visitor, you can travel comfortably and at no extra cost to the host cities: Essen, Bochum, Duisburg, Mülheim an der Ruhr, and Hagen.
VRR is also helping spread the word: posters on trains, info on ticket machines, at service points, and across their website will ensure that the Games are visible throughout the region – building excitement well before the first match begins.
This collaboration is a perfect fit for the spirit of Rhine-Ruhr 2025: an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable celebration of university sport in the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia. Thanks to the combined event and transport ticket, getting to the Games couldn’t be easier – or greener.
