Westenergie is an official partner of Rhine-Ruhr 2025
The Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games and Westenergie announce a new partnership: The energy service provider based in Essen is the official supporter of the world's largest multisport event in 2025. The collaboration focuses on the Volunteer Kick-Off, the Westenergie Sports Hall in Mülheim, and the "Sports Diploma" project, an interactive educational and movement format within the festival program of the Games.
The Sports Diploma is aimed at visitors of all ages, offering them the opportunity to try out and actively experience the competitive sports of Rhine-Ruhr 2025 through small challenges. Those who successfully complete all stations receive an official certificate – the Sports Diploma – and a small surprise provided by Westenergie.
Westenergie also supports the project through communication, emphasizing its long-standing social commitment in education, youth development, and sports. This partnership aligns perfectly with the values of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games and strengthens the connection between regional responsibility and international influence.
"With the Sports Diploma, we aim to provide local clubs and associations a platform to present themselves and sustainably inspire visitors to engage in sports. Through active participation, we also aim to achieve a positive impact on grassroots sports," says Larissa Reutershahn, Team Lead Non-Sports & Culture at Rhine-Ruhr 2025. "With Westenergie, we have found a partner who shares and breathes this vision. Together, we create a format that particularly excites children and adolescents about physical activity."
In addition to its presence at the Sports Diploma, Westenergie, particularly in Mülheim an der Ruhr, will be visible as one of the six Host Cities of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games. At the Westenergie Sports Hall, the company will proudly host the badminton competitions, making a strong statement about its regional commitment.
"The Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games stand for fairness, diversity, achievement, and togetherness – values that Westenergie also wholeheartedly embraces and promotes. As a partner of this event, we want to demonstrate how sports connect people and regions," explains Brigitte Vogt, Head of Marketing & Brand at Westenergie. "For us, this commitment is a strong affirmation of an open, forward-looking society and our region."
The partnership with Westenergie is another building block towards an open, inclusive, and sustainable multisport event that sets positive impulses for the region and beyond, far beyond just the sporting competition.
