Side Events

Liked what you’ve seen in the stadium, and want to try it for yourself? Need somewhere to engage the kids? Or are you really thirsty for more culture (or even just a coffee)? At the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, there is a side event for everyone. Spanning 12 days, an extensive art and culture programme connects the cities of the Rhine-Ruhr region to the largest field of play in the world. Along central themes such as internationality, participation, sustainability and transformation, local and international artists will meet to create a playful approach to art and culture for everyone in public spaces. The supporting programme offers space for encounters and connections, as well as a presentation platform for various local organisations.

'Everybody is all-in!' This is exactly our vision for the festival programme of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games Summer. We want to bring people together to create creative places for inspiring encounters and showcase the diversity of the Rhine-Ruhr region. The festival offers associations, clubs, museums, schools, universities and colleges a unique stage to share their passion for sport, culture and science with an international audience.

Come and join the try-out challenges from our competition sports, discover trending sports like teqball or parcours, and be part of our Sports Zone with diverse activities for all ages and abilities. Find (local) culture at its best! Take part in a variety of cultural actions and performances, from street art workshops and pop-up exhibitions to concerts and DIY projects. Our vibrant programme invites you to enjoy the rich variety of our culture in every aspect.

Discover

Want to expand your horizon? Our Discover Area combines education with entertainment and offers a diverse lineup of workshops, talks and sessions on relevant topics like sustainability, diversity and inclusion and international exchange. Universities and schools, NGOs and experts will present thought-provoking content designed to inspire growth and discovery. Come and discover something new!

Kids Zone

Whether young or old Rhine Ruhr 2025 is a sport festival for everyone. The Kids Zone will be packed with activities and games tailored specifically for kids and families, ensuring they have a memorable and enjoyable time with plenty of interactive games.

Comfort Zone

Welcome to the Comfort Zone, where you can sit back and relax. Take a moment, grab some tasty street food, and enjoy a chill picnic with your friends. This is your spot to unwind and enjoy the good vibes.

RUHR GAMES FESTIVAL

In Bochum, we’re taking the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 Festival to the next level with the inclusion of the Ruhr Games 2025! It’s going to be an unforgettable event designed for young adults and families, packed with excitement and fun! Over four action-packed days, you'll dive into a sporty programme with international flair, featuring demo sports and new Olympic disciplines like BMX Flatland, Spineramp, and Longboard. And the best part? It’s all free and outdoors!
