Sports activities and events throughout the city

The Beach & Streetfood Festival will officially open on Friday, 18 July at 5 pm on the Alter Markt in Wattenscheid's city centre. The salsa band Latino Total will accompany the evening musically until 10 pm.

Saturday will be sporty. A beach volleyball tournament with twelve teams starts at 12.30 pm. A show match with professionals is also planned.

On Sunday, 20 July, the action starts at 12 noon. From 1pm to 5pm, the beach volleyball court will be open for free play, accompanied by presenter and DJ Marko Holtwick.

A wide range of culinary delights will also be on offer on all three days: At least twelve food trucks will be set up around the beach volleyball court for the entire festival.

After the sports programme at the Jahrhunderthalle, DJ sets from various genres on 18 and 19 July invite you to round off the evening from 6 pm to 11 pm on the KAP stage at the top of the Bermuda3Eck.

On Friday, Sini LikkleLuv and Kurtis Flow (from 8 pm) will heat up the audience with old school hip-hop and soul. On Saturday, house and techno beats are on the programme, with Julian Kruse and Max Bering (from 8 pm).

When the morning session is over at the Lohrheidestadion, the Cute Community Hangout will take place right next door at the former Zeche Holland from 23 to 26 July. From noon to 10 p.m., contemporary international club music will be played by DJs from various collectives. Among others, Rubimental, Mrs Benji, Poulho and Foudjo will be playing.

There will be a beach lounge around the stage as well as games and activities for children organised by the city sports association, with a play mobile, bouncy castle and football darts.

There will also be food and drink stalls. Free guided tours of the winding tower of the former Zeche Holland will also be offered every day during the campaign at 2 pm, 3.30 pm and 5 pm - with a fantastic view over the entire Ruhr region.

If you want to plan further excursions: Bochum Marketing will be on site with a stand during the competitions in the Lohrheidestadion and will be happy to provide advice.

New guided walking tour: Bude, mining and botany: Discover Bochum's past and present over two and a half hours.

From 12 July to 10 August, the "Fit in the Park" campaign invites you to get active together in Bochum's parks: More than 200 free courses in 15 Bochum parks will bring exercise into the summer.

On 19 July, there will be a Kemnader See parkrun, a five-kilometre run around the idyllic lake between Bochum and Witten.

There is a swimming area on the Ruhr in Bochum that is open to the public.
