JOIN IN NOW & LET THE FLAME BURN!
Apply yourself or nominate inspiring people who carry the fire within them by 31 March 2025.
The basic requirements are a minimum age of 14 years and the physical condition to carry a Torch weighing up to 2 kg over a maximum distance of 200 metres.
Selection criteria: Show your commitment
In addition to the basic requirements, at least one of the three selection criteria (social commitment, sporting commitment, scientific commitment) must be fulfilled. Swipe through the slides to discover the details.
Social commitment
People who distinguish themselves through voluntary work or social projects
Voluntary work (in associations, initiatives, everyday life or events)
Commitment to social & ecological sustainability
Active advocacy of democratic values and civil courage
Important Information
Responsibility of the nominating person
Before the nomination, the nominee must be informed about the nomination and agree to it. The nominated person must agree to us publishing the video and image material taken during the Flame Relay.
Registration
All entries must be submitted via the Online Registration Form (available in German) via this link. All required information and materials must be provided or uploaded completely and truthfully. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Deadlines
The application deadline is 31 March 2025. Late submissions can only be accepted in exceptional cases and by arrangement.
Selection process
Entries will be selected according to the criteria set out above to represent the values of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games. A nomination or application does not automatically lead to selection as a Torchbearer.
Responsibility and rights
The organisers accept no responsibility for incorrect or invalid nominations. The organisers accept no liability for misuse or false information provided by the nominator.
Photos and videos
The participants agree that photos and videos (‘recordings’) of them may be processed by RR2025 for the following purposes, in particular for publication on the website and social media channels:
For the presentation of the Flame Relay project
For reporting on the FISU World University Games 2025
For sponsor communication: use of the recordings in reports or presentations for sponsors and partners
For documentation: Archiving and presentation of event highlights in internal reports and public reviews
For promotional materials: creation of flyers, brochures and posters to promote future events
Cancellation or changes
The organisers reserve the right to change or cancel the programme at any time if unforeseen circumstances make this necessary.
Costs
Participation in the Flame Relay is free of charge. Costs incurred by participants in the preparation or realisation of their contributions will not be covered.
Data protection
The data collected as part of the application will be used exclusively for the application process and the organisation of the event and will not be passed on to third parties. You can find our data protection notice here (in German).
By submitting an entry, participants accept these conditions of participation in full.
