Grugapark Essen receives official venue badge
Grugapark in Essen has been awarded the official venue badge for the 2025 FISU World University Games in the Rhine-Ruhr region. This summer, the Park Festival, which is part of the eagerly anticipated Games, will see top musical acts perform here.
Star DJ Alle Farben has already been confirmed for the opening concert, and the rest of the programme will be announced in the coming days.
The venue plaque symbolises the close and positive collaboration between the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 organising team and the Grugapark management. Ramea Möller (Team Lead, Stakeholder Management) and Larissa Reutershahn (Team Lead, Non-Sports Events) presented the plaque to Simone Raskob (Head of the Environment, Transport and Sport Division) and Christina Waimann (Head of Grugapark). Grugapark will play a central and important role as a festival location for the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games.
"The Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games and, above all, the Park Festival are in keeping with the Grugapark's identity as a meeting place and centre of activity. We are delighted to be hosting this event in the summer," says Mattis Ricken, Head of the "Grün und Gruga" department.
Simone Raskop adds: "The people of Essen love their Grugapark, it is the green heart of Essen. That's why I'm convinced that the people of Essen are proud that the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games Park Festival will be held here in their park."
