    Transport

Getting around the Rhine-Ruhr region and Berlin during the Games will be easy and convenient thanks to Germany’s well-developed public transportation network — and as a volunteer, you can use public transport free of charge.

When you arrive at the UDAC, you will receive your accreditation, which serves as your travel pass. With it, you can use buses, trams, and trains between July 11th and July 28th. In North Rhine-Westphalia, this covers the VRR area, and in Berlin, zones A and B of the VBB.

Before and after July 11th, you can only use public transport on your scheduled shift days.

Below you will find important information to help you navigate the region with ease.

    Public Transport

The region is served by the Rhein-Ruhr Verkehrsverbund (VRR), which operates an extensive network of trains, buses, and trams connecting all major cities and event venues. Volunteers will receive a free transport pass with their accreditation.

S-Bahn (Suburban Trains): Fast connections between cities such as Düsseldorf, Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg.

U-Bahn (Underground/Light Rail): Operates within cities and is ideal for short-distance travel.

Trams & Buses: Provide local transport, often reaching areas not covered by trains.

    Long Distance Travel

For trips beyond the event regions, Germany’s Deutsche Bahn (DB) train networks provides fast intercity services.

    Transport Apps

For real-time schedules and route planning, volunteers are encouraged to use the VRR app or Deutsche Bahn (DB) app (DB Navigator). Google maps is also good but not as reliable when there are route changes, delays, or cancellations.

    Venues & Respective Train Stops/Stations

Below you will find a list of relevant stops or stations that are closest to the venue and may be useful for helping you navigate around. Please keep in mind that these stops may not be accurate for you. We highly recommend you use one of the travel apps mentioned above in order to find your best route and stop.
