Professor of Sport Science at the Ludwigsburg University of Education (Germany). She is Vice President of various organisations such as the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) and the German Olympic Academy (DOA). From 2009-2021 she was President of the International Society for the History Physical Education and Sport (ISHPES).
Her historical research topics are wide-ranging, e.g. gender and sport, ethnicity and sport and the history of skiing. In the field of education, her focus is on outdoor education, sexualised violence and e-sports in the context of physical education. She has published 25 books and around 200 articles.
