The Rhine-Ruhr 2025 Safeguarding & Awareness concept ensures the most inclusive atmosphere possible, especially during Games Time, in which all participants and visitors feel welcome, comfortable and valued. The aim is to ensure that the event is not only a sporting success, but also the safest possible meeting place for everyone. Everyone also contributes to creating an event atmosphere in which people are mindful and attentive to the boundaries of others and treat each other with respect. The Safeguarding & Awareness concept is based on the Declaration of Principles on Respect for Human Rights and Sustainability. The following provides an overview of the concept modules and their implementation.
The Code of Conduct sets out clear standards of behaviour to ensure a respectful and safe environment for all participants and visitors. It serves as a guideline for dealing with each other and is binding for ALL those who take part in our event. The Code of Conduct ensures that there is no room for discrimination, harassment or other inappropriate behaviour.
What we do NOT guarantee:
Safeguarding & Awareness is an attitude, not an all-purpose solution. The focus is on offering protection to those affected and putting their needs at the centre. Safeguarding & awareness work cannot eliminate causes, but provides acute support - it creates safe spaces and offers guidance in challenging situations. However, it does not replace professional psychological or therapeutic help. The aim is to sensitise people to discriminatory and transgressive structures, promote a respectful event atmosphere, provide initial support, offer spaces for retreat and refer people to further support services.
