Every big event needs a grand opening, and the magnificent Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena in the stunning surroundings of Sportpark Duisburg will provide the perfect backdrop. Briefly the second largest stadium in Germany when opened in 1921, and completely rebuilt in time for the Opening Ceremony of the 2005 World Games, this is a stage set for the stars. The distinctive angular roof covers all 31,500 seats and standing places, with two giant 41m2 screens ensuring nobody need miss a thing. As the regular home of football club MSV Duisburg, local fans are used to cheering for the ‘Zebras’. But this will be an Opening Ceremony in full colour; a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to light up this impressive arena like never before.
