German reception in Torino: great anticipation for Rhine-Ruhr 2025
On Tuesday, Susanne Welter, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Milan, invited Team StuDi to a reception in Torino. The athletes and officials were joined by Juliane Seifert, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community, as well as numerous other representatives from politics, the German Rectors' Conference, business, and international sports associations.
Team StuDi: ambassadors for fairness and friendship
In her welcoming address, Susanne Welter wished the student-athletes successful competitions: “We are very proud to have you, the top student-athletes, as our guests and ambassadors for Germany”.
State Secretary Juliane Seifert emphasised that sport has the power to promote mutual understanding, fairness and friendship across national borders. “This power is visible at the FISU World University Games, which are among the highlights of international competitive sport”.
The adh is intensively committed to achieving an optimal balance between studying and top-class sport. The Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community supports the promotion of dual careers, the basic idea of which is expressed in the FISU slogan ‘Today's Stars - Tomorrow's Leaders’.
Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games: Colorful top-class sports highlight in July
“The Federal Government, the Federal Minister of the Interior and Community and I are already looking forward to the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games. Germany will present itself as an inspiring, warm-hearted and excellently organised host country for major sporting events. I am convinced that this event will enable exciting competitions and unforgettable encounters,” Seifert said.
Andrea Milz, State Secretary for Sport and Volunteering for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, emphasised: “Multi-sport events are something very special, as we are seeing impressively right now. In six months' time, student-athletes and guests from all over the world will be able to enjoy these positive impressions and experiences directly in our region. I'm really looking forward to it!”
The German student-athletes also gave a warm welcome to the FISU President, Leonz Eder. Eder addressed the guests at the reception: “The adh does very valuable work for national and international university sport. I am sure that the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games will be an outstanding event”.
FISU Games: Milestone for sporting and personal development
adh delegation leader Hannah Schäfer addressed the student-athletes: “I hope that you will be able to reach your full potential here in Turin and use the experience for your sporting and personal development”.
Para-cross-country skier Johanna Recktenwald (PH Freiburg) and ski mountaineer Finn Hösch (TU Munich) expressed their enthusiasm for the FISU Games in a brief interview.
Johanna Recktenwald emphasised: “It's great that the FISU Games are an inclusive event. That puts them a step ahead of the Paralympics and World Cups, where we never have competitions alongside non-disabled people. My goal for the coming days is to do my best in the competition and have a good time with fellow students from all over the world.”
Finn Hösch added: “It is a great honour to represent my country and my university, TU Munich, at such an important international event. I am also looking forward to competing with the world's best student-athletes and gaining new experiences. I will do my best and show what I can achieve in this sport. At the same time, I want to enjoy the atmosphere of the FISU Games.”
The evening in Turin ended with lively discussions.
