What topics does this year’s FISU World Conference cover?

This year’s FISU World Conference is held under the theme:  “Competing for change: exploring sustainability and (mental) health through sports.” 

The programme focuses on four key topics:

(1) Mental health and performance pressure among athletes. 

(2) Balancing acts: work-life balance and resilience among high-performance coaches, referees, and the entourage.

(3) Ecological sustainability on campus.  

(4) Health and well-being in sports and physical activity. 

Which speakers are expected?

A full list of confirmed speakers will be published on our website soon. 

Will there be opportunities for interaction?

Yes – following each keynote, there will be Q&A sessions where participants can ask questions and engage in open discussion. 

Who can attend the FISU World Conference?

Everyone aged 18 and above is welcome to join, regardless of student status or academic background – as long as a ticket has been purchased.  Information about ticket options (Full, Small, Student) can be found here.

When and where will the FISU World Conference take place?

The FISU World Conference will take place from 17–19 July 2025 at the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum (An der Jahrhunderthalle 1, 44793 Bochum, Germany). A detailed schedule will be published on our website soon. 

What is the official language of the conference?

The official conference language is English. Any program elements held in German will be simultaneously translated into English. 

Is there a dress code for the FISU World Conference?

No – just come as you feel comfortable!

How do I find my way around the venue?

A venue map will be published in advance on the conference website. 

When will registration close?

Registration is open from 1 December 2024 to 30 April 2025. First come, first served – secure your ticket early!

What if I can no longer attend? Can I cancel or transfer my ticket?

We’re sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you are feeling unwell, we kindly ask you not to attend out of consideration for other participants. Thank you for your understanding! 

What sustainability measures are being implemented?

Sustainability is a core value of the FISU World Conference. You can find detailed information in our Pre-Games Paper 2.0, available on our website.

How is inclusion considered at the conference?

  • All main areas of the venue are accessible. 

  • Sign language interpretation for all main sessions. 

  • Free childcare for children aged 4–12. 

  • More details on accessibility and inclusive services are available on our website. 

Can I volunteer at the conference?

Absolutely – we welcome everyone who wants to get involved!  You can sign up directly on  our official website. 

Can I use public transport for free?

Yes – all tickets except the Student Ticket include free public transport (bus, tram, train) during the conference days. 

Do I need a visa to attend?

  • Many countries enjoy visa-free entry to Germany for up to 90 days.

  • Please check the visa requirements on the German Federal Foreign Office website. 

  • No invitation letter is required – your conference ticket is sufficient proof for visa applications.
