Uniform

Your Volunteer Uniform

As a volunteer, you will receive the following items:  

  • Official T-shirt  

  • Zip Jacket  

  • Rain Jacket (Role specific)  

  • Pants  

  • Socks   

  • Cap  

  • Backpack  

  • Bum bag 

  • T-shirt & Jacket: Always wear your uniform T-shirt when on duty. The jacket is required in cooler weather or at specific events.  

  • Pants: Long pants are provided as part of the uniform. However, if the weather is extremely hot, shorts may be worn if they have no logo and are appropriate for the event. Different sporting brands as distributors are prohibited from being worn.  

  • Socks: Volunteers will receive a pair of event socks as a complimentary gift. Wearing them is not mandatory. Volunteers are welcome to wear their own socks, provided they are plain and have no visible logos or branding. 

  • Footwear: Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required for safety and comfort.  

  • Accessories: Personal accessories and jewelry should be minimal and not obstruct the uniform.   

  • Prohibited items: Avoid wearing non-official apparel over or in place of the uniform during shifts.

Uniforms must be worn during all shifts.  

Do not wear your uniform outside of your duties.  

The accreditation badge must be worn with your uniform during all shifts.

  • Altering the uniform (Cutting, tying, or modifying)  

  • Wearing it outside of official shifts   

  • Mixing uniform items with personal clothing (Unless stated)

Washing: Machine wash 30-45 degrees with similar colors.  

Do not use bleach or harsh detergents as it may damage the fabric or logos.  

Drying: Air dry recommended; tumble dry low heat if necessary.   

Ironing: Use low heat. If needed (avoid logos and prints). 

Storage: Hang or fold neatly to prevent wrinkles. 

To ensure a professional and cohesive appearance, all volunteers must follow these uniform guidelines: 

  • The uniform must be worn during all official volunteer shifts. 

  • Volunteers must keep their uniform clean, tidy, and in good condition. 

  • The volunteer accreditation and lanyard must be worn at all times while on duty. 

  • The full uniform should be worn as provided – no mixing it with non-official clothing unless otherwise stated. The only acceptable items that me be non-official are shoes and shorts (shorts must be appropriate for the event). 

  • Do not modify or personalize the uniform (e.g., cutting sleeves, adding logos or patches). 

  • Do not wear your uniform outside of volunteer duties or shifts (e.g., for personal use or at unofficial events). 

  • Do not lend or give your uniform to others. 

  • If you forget to wear your uniform or come to your shift in non-official clothing, then you will not be allowed to perform your role. 

  • Once you receive your uniform it will not be possible to change it so keep that in mind when trying it on and finalizing your sizing at the Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre.

If you do not wish to keep your uniform after the event, you are welcome to return it—as long as it has been washed.  

Returned uniforms will be donated to one of the following organisations: 

  • Diakonie Essen – A non-profit social service organization based in Essen, providing a wide range of support services to individuals of all ages. Their work includes both inpatient and outpatient care for children, youth, people with disabilities, the homeless, and seniors in need of assistance. 

  • Global Aid Network (GAiN) gGmbH – An international humanitarian aid organization that provides support and essential supplies in over 40 countries around the world. 

Uniforms must be handed in at one of the following locations: 

  • UDAC Essen (by 28 July) 

  • UDAC Berlin (by 24 July)
