Anyone for tennis? There are few finer clubs in Germany than the ETUF Tennisanlage in Essen, with its 17 outdoor courts, an indoor hall and an air dome, and a clubhouse boasting views over the beautiful Baldeneysee. Founded in 1900, the predominantly clay court facility has moulded many top players over the decades and for many years hosted the highest-ranking ITF seniors tournament in Germany. For the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games, the 1,500-capacity centre court will be modernised and the whole venue made wheelchair accessible. When the sun shines on this stretch of the Ruhr, there is no better place to play tennis.
