At the centre of the Rhine-Ruhr cultural landscape, the Grugahalle has been presenting top-quality entertainment in the trendy Rüttenscheid district of Essen for over 65 years. It remains a concert hall for music stars and orchestras, a circus ring and an ice palace, and a sports venue for tennis, handball, gymnastics, boxing and football. And that is not all; whether federal party rallies, church gatherings, general meetings or trade union meetings, everything happens under the distinctive butterfly roof of the Grugahalle. At the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, the 6,000-capacity venue will host basketball.
