Para Sport Lounge NRW hosts theme day

With the Paralympic Games in Paris in full swing, the Organising Committee of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games is excited to announce an interactive day focusing on the central topics of diversity and inclusion.

To be held at the Para Sport Lounge NRW in the Schadow-Arkaden in Düsseldorf on 4 September, the pioneering event will offer a platform for exchange and awareness-raising on the challenges and opportunities in creating a more inclusive sports world.

Under the motto ‘Recognising, breaking down and overcoming barriers’, this exciting theme day will launch with an inspiring video message from a prominent Para athlete -  directly from the Paralympic Games in Paris.

Various try-outs and awareness-raising workshops will then take participants on a sporting journey through four experience ‘stations’, familiarising them with different sporting activities and so developing better understandings of the challenges in disability sport.

First-hand insights will be provided by key figures from the Organising Committee of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games. They will reveal what the work of an event inclusion manager looks like, and present the exciting new sport of 3x3 wheelchair basketball, which will make its debut at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games.

The accessibility measures at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, and the general challenges of implementing diversity and inclusion at multi-sport events, will all be highlighted. The theme day will conclude with a discussion and open Q&A session, when high-profile panel guests will discuss these topics and answer questions.

Scheduled for 10:00 to 16:00, the theme day will provide a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest developments in inclusion at multisport events, share experiences and find ways to break down and overcome barriers together. The aim is also to gather further valuable input on these topics for the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games.

The event is open to everyone free of charge, but registration is required until September 3rd. Further information and the registration link can be found here.
